Hi my name is Denise Hardy and I love everything in connection with the home i.e. Interior Design, Hand Painting Furniture, Decorative Painting Techniques and Art.

I live in Alicante, Spain with my husband in a beautiful villa which we both love and work hard on making it our home.  I have been established in creating beautiful homes since 1998 and never get tired of doing what I do.

OUR VILLA IN SPAIN

MAIN BEDROOM

These Before and After pictures are taken In our Main Bedroom.  We had the builders in to do all the building work and the replastering, laying new tiles, repainted the walls and they also changed out the sockets and replaced them all with chrome ones instead of the horrible cream ones that were in when we purchased the villa.  We also had new architraving and new doors and handles, which are in a beautiful crystal and when the sunshine gets on them, they produce really beautiful colours on the walls.

I purchased new bed linen (you will see I purchased a few sets of different bedding and cushions etc. mind you I'm always changing the bedroom, as I like the different looks it gives.) I also re-painted the bedside cabinet with Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in English Yellow and protected it with Polyvine Clear Varnish - Satin Finish - I prefer Polyvine rather than waxing because this finish gives the furniture more durability.

I painted the chest of drawers and the vanity unit in white.  They were beige/creamy before.  On the vanity table I had some glass cut - again for durability.  We ladies wouldn't want make-up all over would we?

I also re-vamped the chandelier which was in Brass and painted it using Hammerite Silver and purchased some crystals and put those on to give it a bit of bling.  Then I painted the vanity stool and re-upholstered it.

The only problem in the bedrooms at the villa is that they are not very large - therefore I have to make the best of what space I do have.  Oh. how I envy those that do.

These are some photos I took of the re-vamped chandelier, some artwork for the walls and close-up of cushions, ornaments, the re-upholstered stool and the new doors and the crystal handles.  The artwork at the moment are some canvases which I covered in fabric.  I am having some other artwork on the walls, when I get round to sorting it out (but..... who knows how long that will take me)  You will note that one of the pieces of art matches the stool.  Which I used the leftover fabric from the stool.  The grey piece of artwork above the bed was also created by me using different size wire and texture.
