Hi my name is Denise Hardy and I love everything in connection with the home i.e. Interior Design, Hand Painting Furniture, Decorative Painting Techniques and Art.
I live in Alicante, Spain with my husband in a beautiful villa which we both love and work hard on making it our home. I have been established in creating beautiful homes since 1998 and never get tired of doing what I do.
These Before and After pictures are taken In our Guest Bedroom. We had the builders in to do all the building work and the replastering, laying new tiles, repainted the walls and they also changed out the sockets and replaced them all with chrome ones instead of the horrible cream ones that were in when we purchased the villa. We also had new architraving and new doors and handles. Which are in a beautiful crystal and when the sunshine gets on them, they produce different beautiful colours on the walls.
I purchased new bed linen and re-painted the bedside cabinet with Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in English Yellow and protected it with Polyvine Clear Varnish - Satin Finish - I prefer Polyvine rather than waxing because this finish gives the furniture more durability.
I painted the chest of drawers and the vanity unit in white. On the dressing table I had some glass cut - again for durability. I wouldn't want make-up all over it.
I also re-vamped the chandelier which was in Brass and painted it in Silver and purchased some crystals and put those on to give it a bit of bling. Then I painted the vanity stool and re-upholstered it. I also painted the little box on the dresser in the same paint as I used for the bedside table, which I keep samples of toiletries for my guests.
The only problem in the bedrooms at the villa is that they are not very large - therefore I have to make the best of what space I do have.
These are some photos I took of the re-vamped chandelier, the bedside cabinet, the painted box and some artwork for the walls
I know the Before picture below has five bars, but I re-vamped two of these - one for the Main Bedroom and one for the Guest Bedroom. Main Bedroom has five arms and the Guest Bedroom has three arms and I didn't take a Before picture of the three armed one. I used Hammerite on them
