Hall Table Painted in Rustoleum Chalk Paint - Sage Green

This piece of furniture which I painted for a customer's Hallway.  She wanted it updating and given a new look.  When I asked her about what colour etc she would prefer - she said she didn't mind and she was going away on holiday and she said 'surprise me' - sometimes this can work out and sometimes not - although I've never done anything 'to-date' that a customer doesn't like.  Thank goodness.  But... then, I always think and say that, after all it is only paint and can easily be re-done.

I considered it for a while and thought I would use Rustoleum Chalk Paint.  I have already used Rustoleum paint on some other projects and like to use it.  So I chose the colour of Sage Green.

TIP - when using Chalk Paint I personally like to add small amounts of water.  As all Chalk Paints I have used are rather thick and when it is watered down it flows much easier and personally it looks and feels better.  Just go sparingly with the water, as you don't want to go too overboard with the water so add little by little. You can always add but you can't take out!!  It is much preferable to have two thin coats than one thick!

The thing is with me I always like to add some depth and don't like to use clear wax to a piece of furniture, hence I make my own glazes etc.  I had been shopping a few weeks ago and saw some coloured waxes, which was in Leroy Merlin's in Spain and thought perhaps I would try this and see how I go.  It was made by Liberon and I bought a gold colour.

I applied this all over - except the drawer with a soft cloth, rubbing it on but then taking a lot off. Then buffed it up to give it a nice soft sheen and then on the drawer I put 3 coats of Polyvine Acrylic Varnish.
