Hi my name is Denise Hardy and I love everything in connection with the home i.e. Interior Design, Hand Painting Furniture, Decorative Painting Techniques and Art.

I live in Alicante, Spain with my husband in a beautiful villa which we both love and work hard on making it our home.  I have been established in creating beautiful homes since 1998 and never get tired of doing what I do.

Dresser Painted in Annie Sloan's Emperor's Silk

This piece of furniture started off in Pine.  It need to be updated and given a new look.  I decided to use Dulux Quick Drying Eggshell - this is how I do this technique :-

Firstly, I apply 2 coats of Zinsser 123 Primer - I use this primer as it has a 'Stain Block' and it does not show any 'bleed through' when painted and leave overnight.  The next day I apply 2 coats of Dulux Quick Drying Eggshell, also leaving overnight.  I also replaced the knobs with some nice glass hearts.

When using Dulux Quick Drying Eggshell you do not need any other 'finish' on top as this is one of the most hardwearing paints on the market.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any pictures of when this Dresser was in Pine - as last year, I had to purchase a new laptop because my old one 'conked' out on me and I lost a load of pictures that I had stored on it.  So, I thought I would show you a couple of pictures of when it was in situ a few years ago of when we were living in Ireland and one just before
