How to Re-use a Basket

Do you have a basket you never use?  Or... perhaps you are using it for a different purpose?  Then why not re-use it for something entirely different?

I have had this basket for years - it was actually made by my Uncle - who is blind.  In fact he made me quite a lot of basket-ware.  A Picnic Hamper, my Laundry Basket, my Ironing Basket and several other baskets.  This basket was actually used to put some small tools in, which has been in the shed for years.  We decided to give our shed a bit of a re-organisation and came across this basket and thought why not re-use it for something prettier than just a few tools.

I decided to use it this time to make a flower arrangement.  I had just re-vamped my top balcony and thought some flowers would like nice to go with my newly painted furniture I did.

I think it looks much better with some pretty flowers in than the tools - don't you?

The basket was two tone brown and silly me - I forgot to take a photo of the 'Before', which is not new for me - I am always eager to get 'cracking' on a re-vamp!

All I did, was to water down very thinly (a 'wash') with Annie Sloans Chalk Paint in Silver Grey.  Then purchased some foam to hold the flowers in place and then made the arrangement with silk flowers.  It will take you about 2 minutes to give it a 'paint wash' and about 5/10 minutes to arrange some flowers.
